Weekly Blog: 21st October 2022
This week we have continued our All About Me topic. Instead of the book of the week we have enjoyed a maths themed week and we have:

  • enjoyed counting and recognising numbers on our number tuff tray
  • sang counting songs, completed number puzzles and games
  • investigated size and shape on our tins and tubes tuff tray table
  • had a crcle time based on learning about length and measuring, including measuring each other
  • outside we counted conkers on our tuff tray and linked to numbers
  • we learnt about weighing while weighing potatoes on scales and learning about heavy and light
  • we focused on shape recognition activities
  • we learnt about capacity while measuring oats into different sized containers with spoons *games included 'beat the clock' where the children had to count how many jumps/hops/star jumps etc they could do in a minite
  • outside we investigated with hoops and threw bean bags into buckets and played group games
  • at circle time we learnt about Diwali and watched a candle quietly for a minite to reflect on the festival of lights
  • at the craft area we made Diwali firework pictures, created rangoli patterns and painted different shapes with potatoes
  • in the role play area we made shopping lists and encouraged mark making with chalking and using the wipe boards
  • alongside lots of stories there was independent reading
  • we learnt lots of new maths vocabularly this week, everything from heavy/light, long/short, full/empty as well as shape names and lots of counting

As usual the weekly blog represents a snapshot of what most of the children participate in during the week. Please speak to your child's key person if you would like to have further information about your child's interests and progress. You are welcome to ask your key person for feedback at any time and book a time to have a meeting for feedback on how your child is progressing. Hoping you all have a lovely weekend.

Best wishes, Julia, Grace, Sharon, Lisa, Hannah and Amy
