Weekly Blog: 4th November 2022
This week we have focused on the topic: Autumn alongside our book of the week Pumpkin Soup. We have also:

  • sung a lot of nursery rhymes and songs
  • enjoyed our book of the week and lots of other stories including Squirrels Autumn season story
  • sung Autumn themed songs
  • played the Autumn 'what am I?' game where an adult reads out a description of something Autumn themed and the children have to find the matching picture
  • on our tuff tray we enjoyed pumpkin scooping
  • outside we enjoyed ring games and games such as Simon Says and jumping beans
  • we talked about how to be a good friend at circle time
  • we learnt about bonfire night/firework safety in the role play area we have enjoyed played with animals and caring for them
  • we practised name recognition and writing names
  • outside we did a small Autumn phonics nature walk, listening for sounds and drawing pictures of what we could hear and listening to the initial letter sounds of the words the children used in their descriptions
  • we looked at and played with 2d shapes
  • looked at the numbers on our number line in the garden
  • recognised the signs of Autumn in the environment by looking at pictures and talking about what we can see
  • the children helped the grown ups clear the garden of leaves
  • we learnt about hibernating animals
  • did a lot of painting, sticking with leaves, made leaf hedgehogs and leaf hand trees at the craft table

As usual the weekly blog represents a snapshot of what most of the children participate in during the week. Please speak to your child's key person if you would like to have further information about your child's interests and progress. You are welcome to ask your key person for feedback at any time and book a time to have a meeting for feedback on how your child is progressing. Hoping you all have a lovely weekend.

Best wishes, Julia, Grace, Sharon, Lisa, Hannah and Amy
