Weekly Blog: 1st to 5th December 2025
This week we have focused on the story Jack and the beanstalk.
Activities we have enjoyed include, alongside other child initiated
activities:
- planting cress seeds
- learning about the life cycle of a bean
- mixing colours to make green while painting
- lots of mark making in various forms: water painting, wipe board marking, pencils, pens, tracing patterns and much more create leaf rubbing pictures
- role playing the story jack and the beanstalk and dressing up in giant clothes
- using small world characters to role play the story
- creating a big beanstalk and turning it into a giant number line
- making a junk model giant castle
- using the light box with different coloured tissue to make green
- looking at golden objects on our investigation tray
- making patterns with shaving foam clouds
- lots of listening games, songs and rhymes
- listening to harp music
- lots of dressing up fun
- playing hide and seek magic beansplaying guessing games and phonological games
- making up stories with soft toys
- lots of puzzles and lotto games
- making shapes with play dough
- finding our names in different places
- cutting and sticking jack and the beanstalk pictures
- enjoying jack and the beanstalk yoga
- size ordering beanstalks
- playing a magic bean counting game
