Weekly Blog: 23rd to 27th March

This week our focus has been learning about Easter and Spring.
Activities we have enjoyed include, alongside other child initiated activities have been:

On Monday we learnt all about why Easter is celebrated. We matched number to quantity with our picture eggs. We made tissue paper egg pictures. We made Easter cards and enjoyed lots of mark making. We enjoyed role playing in our Easter cafe/shop. We played an Easter phonics game matching sounds to the right letter basket. We also practised pitch matching during music.

On Tuesday we made chocolate easter nests. We looked at the signs of Spring and learnt about the life cycle of a chick. We matched feeling to musical instruments. We made family hen and chick pictures. We did phonics and maths activities and enjoyed lots of outside play such as fishing for emotion plastic faces.

On Wednesday we made easter baskets out of paper plates, pencil control activities and easter sun catchers. We learnt about what to spot in Spring looking at some lovely Spring photos. We enjoyed more music activities and played target practice outside with bean bags. We also enjoyed memory games by guessing the missing object from a group of objects.

On Thursday we learnt all about rabbits, made rabbit craft, enjoyed more music activities and dancing, enjoyed an easter egg hunt and lots of fun craft. Lots of puzzles, games, music and dancing.

On Friday we enjoyed lots of maths Easter activities, played pin the tail on the bunny. We finished off the week with fun games, puzzles, crafting and sports games outside.

We hope that all the children have a lovely two weeks off.

During we week we also enjoyed lots of other activities including:
  • lots of mark making in various forms: water painting, wipe board marking, pencils, pens, tracing patterns
  • guessing the objects game
  • fine motor skill activities such as threading and using tweezers
  • having fun in our role play cafe/shop
  • lots of matching games
  • learning about different 2d shapes and their properties
  • lotto games and puzzles
  • painting and creating some lovely artwork
  • name writing practice and practice finding and recognising own name
  • lots of listening games, songs and rhymes
  • counting games, songs and rhymes
  • listening to lots of stories
  • matching numerals to quantity
  • lots of fun phonological activities
