Weekly Blog: 2nd to 20th June 2025
For the first part of this term we have been learning all about life on the farm and had the experience of watching eggs hatch into chicks and looking after them.

Activities we have done include, alongside other child initiated activities:

  • learning about what animals live on a farm
  • learning about why the animals are on the farm, what jobs they do and how the farmers look after them
  • learning about how farmers help grow food and how food is grown
  • learning about healthy food and how it helps us
  • learning about animals and their babies
  • learning about vehicles on the farm and what they do
  • learning about how wool comes from sheep and eggs come from chickens and milk from cows
  • we have created lots of fun craft including chicken pictures, hatching egg pictures, woolly sheep, pigs and lots of other fun craft
  • we have focused on mark making and early writing, encouraging older children to recognise and write their name as well as forming other letters
  • we have counted chicks, items that live on the farm and items of healthy food
  • life cycle of a chicken *learning how to look after chicks
  • enjoyed a yoga farm story
  • played physical games based on animals
  • we have enjoyed lots of role play and making up stories
  • outside we have enjoyed lots of water play, building, drawing , reading and playing played with sand enjoyed dressing up built models with junk modelling lots of painting and craft lots of fun outside play phonics games and activities lots of games and puzzles have been enjoyed
